Karen creates one of a kind, functional stoneware pottery using both light and dark clay bodies.  Her glazes are often contrasting and frequently capped off with rims of sapphire blue.  Most of her work is created on the wheel but she also explores ideas using hand built methods or a combination of both.  She incorporates altered shapes and carving into her pieces, resulting in original, unique creations. 

Her approach to making pottery is with a wide-open feeling of discovery.  She believes this allows her pottery to be fresh and energetic.  In conjunction with this freedom, she includes the disciplines of working with clay learned while attending Haliburton School of the Arts in 2002. 

Karen feels very fortunate to now have the space and time available to pursue her creativity.  Her studio is located just outside of Whitney on Hwy. # 127 and is open year round.
