Painter on Stones
|
Exploring the sacred stone sites in the British Isles was the inspiration behind my choice to paint celtic designs on flatstone. The repetition of the knotwork and spirals becomes a meditative process that takes me right to my core. Recently I've begun incorporating copper wire into my pieces to make them both decorative and wall hangable. My latest series include a group of quirky painted stone faces such as a series called "Viking Women". These pieces are my 'breaking out' from the intricate celtic patterns. The work can be viewed at celtic festivals, folk festivals, and art shows in both Canada and the US.
