Kathy is an acclaimed oil painter following in the footsteps of the great Canadian Arctic painters. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, an invited member of Artists for Conservation, and co-founder of both Arctic Quest and Polar Artists Group.

Working outside on site in all seasons, Kathy shares the exuberant experience of being there, within the landscape. Her lively landscapes tell about adventure and enchantment in wilderness country. Through painting Kathy hopes to impress upon the viewer the power, fragility, simplicity and magic of the natural world.

Kathy’s interpretation is strongly influenced by her father Arctic painter Maurice Haycock and by his close painting partner of 30 years, A Y Jackson. Early Arctic trips with her father introduced her to the lure of the North and inspired a sweeping and graceful rhythm in her work.

Kathy’s artwork is also represented in several Ontario and Quebec galleries.

The Woodland Studio Gallery is Kathy’s studio in a restored heritage log barn. Here you will find paintings of the Algonquin wilderness, rural and local Ottawa Valley landscapes, plus the Canadian Arctic and the American Southwest where Kathy travels frequently.

Come visit during the Studio Tour weekend, or, at any other time at your convenience, please call first.
