While working as a commercial photographer in Toronto in the 80’s I started to photograph architectural details from buildings. I became inspired by these photos an tried my hand at sculpting. I was pleased with my early results and I continued to explore sculpting and mould making on my own. What started as a hobby soon became a full-time business for me. Over the years I have taken courses on mould making at Sculpture Supply and I have studied sculpture at Sheridan College. I work full-time all year round sculpting and mould making and I employ my oldest son and my retired parents to help me produce and sell my work. I’m passionate about history and heritage buildings and I enjoy educating the public about historical stonework that surrounds them everyday but sometimes aren't aware of. I have been commissioned by the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa to reproduce decorative stone work to be sold in the Parliament gift shop. I have been featured on CTV’s Regional Contact and also in the Ottawa Citizen the Kingston Whig Standard and Ottawa at Home magazine. |
