Located 1 km. south of Wilno
The art of Joyce Burkholder reflects a profound love of the Canadian Shield landscape inspired by her canoeing and camping experiences in the Algonquin area...and also from the scenic wilderness setting of her sky-lit studio/showroom in 'uptown Wilno' 1 km from Hwy 60. See work in progress, framed original paintings, reproductions and cards creatively displayed with Dan Hill's beautiful stoneware and porcelain pottery.
A prolific and dynamic professional artist for over 45 years, Joyce paints primarily outdoors on location in all seasons using oils, acrylics and watercolour. Her award-winning paintings are in hundreds of private collections throughout Canada and abroad. She also offers fun and educational Painting Workshops in nearby inspiring settings for all levels of experience and in all mediums. Please check her website for more details and her current schedule.
An exciting book 'Wild Women - Painters of the Wilderness' written by Joyce Burkholder, Linda Sorensen and Kathy Haycock is available at all 3 artist's studios on the tour. Many of their paintings are featured as well as dialogue, techniques and insight into their painting processes.
Please visit Joyce Burkholder and Dan Hill, two highly acclaimed artists at Hillside Paintings and Pottery, open for the summer season, Wed - Sat, 11 - 4, or by chance or appointment, as well as during the SUMMER and FALL Studio Tours. The stunning valley view and the gardens are not to be missed!
